August NWC DVD: A Day in the Life of a Performance Horse

0809_02

You’ve seen outstanding equine athletes perform. They move with supreme athletic ability – sliding to a stop, turning back a cow, spinning with daring speed or effortlessly executing a lead change. It’s clear they’re in the right job – they have the conformation, the bloodlines and the attitude to do what’s asked of them, and they do it well. Have you ever wondered what it takes to train and care for a world-class equine athlete competing at the top level of a discipline? In this month’s lesson, Clinton takes members behind-the-scenes of his performance horse program. You’ll learn all about how he trains his futurity prospects and what he’s looking for in the horses, including their physical and mental ability to compete on a world stage. You’ll also learn how the horses are cared for and the preventative steps taken daily to ensure their wellbeing. Horses that are training to compete at the top level of any sport are athletes and need to be treated as such, just as professional football and basketball players are. Breeding, raising, training and competing performance horses are Clinton’s life’s passion, and members will enjoy learning all about how Clinton and his team ensure the horses have every opportunity to live up to their full potential.
