Signed up for Confidence Clinic, hoping that it would help my horse get better around other horses and in new surroundings. When I signed up, I thought he would come along thru Fundamentals and riding with a neighbor and her horse about 3 times a week. We have 4 weeks left and tonite was disappointing.
Last week, we worked on loping, loping, loping. He did really unexpectedly good. Every night after that, he acted like an old broke horse. Tonite he was coming off 2 days off, and he fooled me about being ready to ride. He wasn’t mean/dangerous he was just stiff and tight backed. Loping was difficult because he was thinking speed race. Glad to say my neighbors horse took it all in stride and behaved very nicely! My horse, after I got off and did LFR2 until he settled down, was better, but my neighbor and her horse went home – so loping him again was not an issue. He is a pretty good horse most all the time, just wants to act sort of out of control when another horse is in the arena.
Anyway, I canl’t help wondering if I made the wrong choice and should have tried for a spot in having the Academy work him thru this issue.
Any advice? I am really worried about him being bad enough at the clinic that I will end up sitting it out
