Well, I finally looked at my scores from the ACTHA rides. As I expected, the sidepass was our undoing on Sunday. I should have just sidepassed without trying to staddle the pole since that was the part that had her confused. As for Saturday, for some reason and I guess I’ll never know why, I was judged at 6 for horse and rider over the bridge. Mind you, this is the same bridge we crossed at the last ride where we got a pair of 10s. I have also crossed this bridge since then a few times. NO hesitation, slow walk on a loose rein right down the middle. Our other scores were all 8, 9 and a lot of 10s so if the bridge had been more fairly assessed, I would have placed better.
It might be my fault for taking it on as one of the first – since a lot of the other horses didn’t even want to go up to it. In the future I’ll wait until towards the end of the pack. Anyway, I guess it is literally water under the bridge now. (Katie, feel free to join in on our clinic group rants anytime you feel like it.)
On another thread, Esther was commenting on how Clinton is no longer an ACTHA sponsor. I agree, his encouragement was one of the main reasons I got involved. Perhaps he saw there were going to be too many “learning curves” with this new organization and decided he didn’t want to be associated too closely with them, or I suspect it was something that fell through at the contractual level.
Cool beans there Sharon with the PPE and CA and AA watching your video.
So who in our group will be in Scottsdale? I am going to meet up with Esther and Frosted Patriot (Heather). Anyone else going?
