I am so excited I can hardly type. Well, maybe I’m putting the cart before the horse here, I hope not.
I got an email a few weeks ago saying that there was going to be a clinic here in Wis, an hour and a half from my home! But, it was $500 plus boarding and lodging for myself besides. Little out of my range.
But, I couldn’t let it go. How many other opportunties will I ever get to do this so close to my home?
Long story short, I sold my second C Anderson saddle to a friend of mine who has been eyeing it so that I could go.
I have my original C Anderson saddle that I will have buried with me I love it so much. I bought a second one several years ago so that when I had friends over and they were riding and if I had to get on that horse for whatever reason the saddle would fit etc.
Well, I no longer have as many people come over so much now that I bought a used trailer last year and made so many horse friends who of course have their own saddle and horse. My friends can ride in my husbands saddle if need be. The saddle I sold didn’t fit him. The saddle has been collecting a bit of dust.
She was ecstatic to buy the saddle and I now have the money to go attend the clinic!!! And the nice thing about selling it to her, if I go over to her place to ride I don’t have to bring my saddle!
I’ve been to many tours and loved everyone of them, but, I really wanted to have my own horse there for once.
I’m bringing my great trail horse Cody. Cody has gone through most of the Method, but he’s a real lazy horse and I have to say that because he is such a good horse I didn’t go at it real hard with him. I’ve mostly been trail riding him. But, I really want to get him to the level of my other horses. They were a lot easier to do cause they were more reactive.
I tend to have a touch of “Poor horsey” in me when they are real lazy! I know, I know, no need to get after me, that’s why I have decided to go to this clinic with him.
The other reason I want to go is for the riding aspect of it. I am much better on the ground and will be happy as all get out to get some real good instruction under saddle. My riding has improved so much this past year or so. I finally learned how to canter. I wouldn’t even have been able to attend with a horse last year since cantering is a requirement. And now I can happily say Cody can be cantered on a loose rein.
I called Dale and he thinks that there are openings for the clinic. I told him that when he gets home to please add me to the list and I will send off my money as soon as I get word.
I called the stables and found out they are charging $45 for the three nights. I didn’t think that was too bad.
Now, is there anyone out there going to attend the clinic and would be interested in having a houseguest for three nights if you live near Deerfield, or, is anyone interested in sharing a hotel room near there? Please let me know, I would be most interested in saving a bit of money if I could.
ETA: I will only be staying overnight Thur and Fri nite since I will be going home on Sat night and bringing my husband back to audit on Sun. That’s all he can stand, and at that he’ll most likely sleep in his chair like usual, but, I LOVE him!
