Hi guys,
I always thought it is kind of sad if a clinic is in full swing and nothing can be heard or read about it in the forum. So I’m trying to post some updates and pictures from time to time.
Right now I’m sitting in the Holiday Inn in Stephenville, and we’re soon going to have dinner in the Hard 8 BBQ about which I’ve heard so many good things. “We” means me and my mother (my helper). We arrived at Dallas airport yesterday, and drove to Stephenville today, making a detour and taking a short hike in the Dinosaur Valley State Park (they have real dinosaur tracks there). Texas is totally beautiful right now, everything is green and warm (in Switzerland, it is cold and rainy, so this is a welcome change).
After some trial and error we finally figured out where the DUH store is located in Stephenville, and paid it a visit. If you drive by you cannot possibly miss it, it’s by far the neatest building in the vicinity.
So the new rules are that everybody who leases a horse for a clinic (only possible if you come from overseas) needs to bring his own saddle. I ride other peoples horses, so I don’t own a saddle. But I’ve always wanted a CA saddle, so this is the perfect opportunity to get one (if I’m going to have to buy a saddle it may just as well be a good one). The lady in the store was very helpful, and I could test-sit my new saddle. I couldn’t stop touching it, it was kind of embarassing (every second sentence I said included “oooh, pretty”) . Gonna buy it tomorrow, when I know the cinch size for my lease horse.
To finish the day off we shortly drove to the ranch. The lady at the store gave us directions, and after some detours we finally found the correct road. The ranch could be seen from quite some distance away, just as the store, it is kind of hard to miss. The largest and cleanest roof by far. We stopped and turned around at the gate, and I did the touristy thing and took a picture of it
