Respect is like having money in the bank, it give you options. Clinton and Flash showed the Harrisburg tour crowd that respect leads to trust, which opens the door to true partnership.
Flash, a 5-year-old Paint, was brought to the tour because he was very hard to catch. His owner Jennifer explained in her application that it usually takes 20 minutes to halter him out in the pasture. Once he’s caught, he’s not the most pleasant horse to be around either. She noted that the gelding has no qualms about dragging his handler over to a lush spot of grass or barging into their personal space while he’s being led.
Clinton did the roundpenning exercises with Flash and then worked on basic desensitizing exercises. Flash was a quick study and left the arena to a round of applause and a beaming owner.
