OK vets, have a question. My OCD has kicked into over drive and making sure I have everything. If I had our Coggins pulled in April 2012, I’m OK, right; or does Clinton want a more recent test. I could completely understand if he did with all his horses at the ranch. Hate to get out there and he wanted somethiing more recent. We will be AOK on the health certificate and all immunizations are current.
Hi Everybody, My name is Randy and I look forward to meeting you all at the clinic in November. I too am in the final stages of preparation for “the journey” and wanted to offer the information I am using to prepare for the health paperwork requirement
Looking at the clinic application requirements, the health document section states “current” negative coggins and health certificate. So for me, to define “current” I went to the site below which shows equine transportation requirements by state. I learned that requirements can vary and are controlled by the respective state agencies. In Texas that is the Animal Health Commision. This led me to realize that it is not a Clinton Anderson Ranch Policy but a state policy. In the state of Texas, a current negative coggins is required that is dated within the past 6 months according to the reference. So I think you might want to update your test Kim but your vet or the state agency available in the link can confirm. I’m sure Mark Tarver would also know for sure.

I contacted my vet to get the necessary documentation in place and they asked me what states I would be passing through to ensure they provided me with all the necessary travel paperwork confirming for me that it does vary. It was nice to have them working for me there cause I am passing through 5 states so my head was kinda spinning as I tried to keep it all strait. Im not sure I am OCD but definitely the “attention to detail” type. You know how a trip like this goes, no matter how hard you prepare seems like you get 30 minutes down the road and realize you forgot something. I just don’t want it to be something important….
Anyway, hope that helps. Exciting times ahead and it will be great riding with you all!!
See you soon,
Randy
