Let Us Do the Hard Work

It takes three things to train a horse: time, knowledge and experience. “If you’ve got the knowledge, but you don’t have the time, it’s not going to work. And if you have the time, but you don’t have the knowledge or experience, it’s not going to work either,” Clinton says. “This is especially true if you’re working with a horse that has developed dangerous behaviors and has been allowed to get away with them for a long time.”

That’s why so many horsemen turn to the Academy Horse program to have their horses trained to be safe, willing partners that they can enjoy in the arena and on the trail. The program is a six-week course designed to teach horses the Fundamentals level of the Method. Horses are worked with six days a week for two and a half each day, and learn all of the Fundamentals groundwork and riding exercises as well as everyday skills, such as trailer loading, standing for the farrier, tying up, and hobbling, to name a few.

“If you want a broke horse that is a safe partner, you have to work with him consistently and put some steady miles under his feet. Many people have great intentions of training their horse but their careers and family commitments understandably come first and take them away from their horse. When you send your horse to the Academy, our sole job is to focus on your horse’s training and to bring out his best,” Clinton says.
